I went to a concert with my sister and met up with some friends. My friend’s brother-in-law was MCing and performing, so we were there to hear him and support him. His name is Doug Mains. He plays with Kelly Pond (who has a great voice) and her friend (whom she played music with through college; I forget his name) and, as of late, Mike Kates (who is quite talented himself). Anyways, all great people. They sound great and Doug has a great voice that is very unique. You can check him out here: Google Doug. He is apparently all over the net. Listen to his stuff and fall in love with these guys.
A voice I had never heard before and fell in love with was that of Kelsey Rottiers and the Rising Tide. You can download some of her stuff and listen to it here: Kelsey Rottiers. I really love her voice. You should dig it.
So glad to hear that you enjoyed the show! Which show was it? We’ve been playing quite a bit with Doug so I just want to remember if I got the chance to meet you. I saw you play at that ghetto stop in downtown Lansing by the Nut House. We never got to meet, but that’s alright. I’m out of Lansing, so maybe I’ll come out and see you guys in April.
